I'm a little unhappy with the clown's aggresssion, but will have to live with it.

Good news!  I was able to successfully wire up the new ballast and the lights work like a charm.  Thanks Joe, for your advice.

I've had to remove clowns (at home and in the shop) for "excessive" hosting.  I had one small percula wallow a wellsi brain to death!  I won't even call them reef safe anymore.

Funny behavior...the tomato clown loves to hang out near the Ring of Fire.  Think it's hosting behavior?

I've got two Percula clowns that live in a frogspawn. I know someone who has clowns that do the same in an elegance coral.

Keep in mind that these pics were taken under 1/2 the lighting I normally keep.

Well, I received the correct ballast this week.  Looks like there will be a lighting party this weekend at my house!   Cheesy

Well, they'll have to go a bit longer (the zoas, that is)..

Sad

I supposed some people are cursed when it comes to online shopping.  I received my package from hellolights yesterday.  They sent the wrong ballast:  a VHO ballast instead of the correct CFL ballast.  The good news is that they were very helpful in correcting the problem.  So, hopefully I'll be back in full working order next week.

Patience...patience.   Tongue

I wouldn't worry too much. Corals can go a very long time in subdued light.

I like it.  The only problem with it is that the damsel I have enjoys stirring it up and it creates a bit of a storm every once in a while.  I have to do clean-up duty with a baster...but that's part of normal maintenance anyway.   Smiley

IME, they grow in every direction, but will grow quicker towards the light

IMHO, I have never found GSPs to be that critical of light. If you want them to grow like gangbusters, add a drop of Lugol's solution per 15 gal of tank water once a week.

You could attach them to the rock with a rubber band. I've seen tanks where people have used them to grow over and hide PVC pipe. I think they look cool when they grow up on the side of the glass.

Wow, it's been awhile since an update!  Shame on me...

Things are going great with the setup.  Everything's pretty dialed in and I'm happy with the growth of everything that I've brought home.

I had taken a few FTS to post, but they were pretty blurry, so I'll have to try again.

Quick GSP question:  does it like to grow vertically more than horizontally...or does it matter?  I'd like to get a large rock covered in it, just for fun, and was wondering how I should position it.  My guess is that, being light-dependant, they'll grow toward the light.
